acticity5.3 Test planning – first thoughts

For your testing to be effective make a plan of what you want to test, how you will test it, who will be a test reviewer and when and where the test will take place. Some tests will be technical; others will equalitative – inviting opinions from others. Some tests will have to be carried out in class, but others could and should be done on computers away from your school or college network: for example, to make sure that the animation will play on stand-alone machines.

Your test plan will serve as a useful checklist so that nothing is forgotten in the final push to meet your deadline.

The test plan prompt sheet will help you gather your initial thoughts about what you should test. You should devise your own plan to test all areas, including the overall effectiveness of your animation.

After testing make a note of all the improvements you make, explaining your rationale. Save your plan to your testing folder as "test_plan".

* Teacher note
The Test plan sheet is to be used as a teaching guide only, to model how students might approach the activity through discussion. They should not be used for students to submit as evidence for formally examined assignments, who may require students to produce their own criteria for testing. Check with your exam board for their latest guidance.
